Dear Visitors and Exhibitors,
It is an honour and pleasure for me to welcome you to the fifth consecutive official participation of the Federal Republic of Germany in PRESTIGE, offering the German Fashion Industry another great opportunity to benefit from the ongoing surge of demand for clothing in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Countries. This year, PRESTIGE is even more attractive for buyers and professionals because the show has concluded a partnership with DUBAI INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK, the grand designers’ event.
Twelve German companies decided to exhibit their collections for the season spring/summer 2008 on a net floor space of close to 300 square meters. The offer concentrates on Character Brands of the upper medium-to-high market segments, including fashion coordinates, casual wear for women and men, lingerie, swim- and beachwear as well as footwear and accessories.
Exports of fashion from Germany to the GCC-countries, including knitwear, woven garments and accessories rose again by a double digit rate of 11 per cent last year, compared to 2005, representing a value of US $ 60 mn. Due to this performance, German fashion suppliers are looking optimistically at their participation in PRESTIGE.
Organisation of the official German Pavillon is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), the Federal Association of the German Textile and Fashion Industry and the Association of the German Knitting Industries (Gesamtmasche).
